UBCMA EXEMPLIFIES MARKETING IN ACTION.
Pushing the envelope to outside what classes teach us, UBCMA provides exclusive opportunities for university students in trying their hand at utilizing their skills, knowledge, and experience with real-life applications. Companies like PepsiCo, Arc’teryx, and RYU are some partners we had the opportunities to work with in our events.
UBCMA is the University of British Columbia's very own marketing club which welcomes all new students. We continue to strive to be always the best club for many years to come.
At the core, we have established a new mission – UBCMA’s Three Pillars: Educate, Engage and Execute. Our event mix that features exclusive networking socials, high-stake competitions, and even a value-packed conference, garnered over 300 members last year; however, we strive to always improve and therefore, we will be revamping and introducing new events that better suits our potential partners and brings greater value to our students.
Where students come to ignite their passion for marketing. Gateways is the largest and most energetic marketing conference at UBC, and has over 200 influential business professionals and university students attend the event. Students attendees experience inspirational speeches from esteemed keynote speakers. During the night, students and business professionals also move onto a networking portion, where our 1:2 delegate to student ratio (highest of any conference at Sauder) facilitates an authentic and more personal environment. This event is UBCMA’s heart and soul.
BATTLE OF THE ADS
Battle Of The Ads (BOTA) is UBC Sauder’s only creative competition where students are tasked with developing a 360 marketing campaign and a 30 second video advertisement for an exclusive partner company. Student teams of 3-4 tackle a creative brief provided by the sponsor company, in which the worthy finalist are then invited to present their ingenious and creative ideas to representatives of the partner company in an action-packed evening. In past years, our students had the opportunity to develop campaigns for companies such as Polo Red by Ralph Lauren, Native Shoes, and Arc’teryx.
THE SALES COMPETITION
Our high intensity sales competition is tailored for those students with a wish to show off their best sales pitch. Individual students play the role as a sales representative and present their pitch to the sponsor company. We provide them with a project brief two weeks in advance so that they can prepare for the pitch and try to secure a deal. On the big day, representatives of the sponsor company will act as the client and judging panel. Winning students have received interviews and/or internships with the sponsor company, which in the past have included Pepsico.

UBC's largest marketing company fair, students are given the opportunity to network and learn about career opportunities from industry-leading companies such as Pepsico, OAK+FORT, tentree, Cossette, and more.
A welcoming social with tons of games, icebreakers, food, and activities to kick off the year for our new and returning members. This is our opportunity to showcase our events and company partnerships to come.
A 1-on-1 networking event for first year students to enrich their passion in marketing, making life-long connections with marketing professionals with amazing experiences.
UBCMA members are invited to tour the Vancouver branch of various firms relevant to the field of marketing, being able to actively participate in amazing workshops and activities that the company has set up in collaboration with UBCMA. Most importantly, this allows members to network with members of that firm, and to further expand their knowledge surrounding these companies, and how marketing works in the real world.

Q: How much does a UBCMA membership cost, and how long does it last?
A: A UBCMA membership costs $10. It is a one time fee, and lasts until the end of April 2019.
Q: How do I get a UBCMA Membership?
Q: I have a UBCMA membership from a year outside of the 2018/2019 school year, do I still have to get a new one?
A: Yes, membership only applies for the duration of the school winter semester which goes from September-April of the chosen year respectively.

Q: Can non-Sauder students become a member?
A: Yes, you can! Anybody interested in marketing is able to join from any faculty, and we actually encourage that you join so that you can explore your options.
